DIY PROJECT: Crayola Lipstick

I'm all about trying new Do-It-Yourself projects. They are fun and a great way to save money especially if you are broke college kid such as myself. I've seen this particular project done several different ways. I modified a few of the ingredients but stuck to the same process. All in all, I think the lipsticks came out great! I hope you all are inspired to try it yourself or pass this tutorial along to a make-up enthusiast!

SUPPLIES:
-Crayola Crayons (or brand of your choice)
-shea butter (can substitute with any moisturizer, coconut oil etc.)
-small pot
-mason jar (any shallow glass container will do)
-empty makeup containers ( I got mine from eBay )
-lipstick brushes
STEP 1: Choose the colors you want to create. I paired mine off into 12 groups because I only had 12 containers. Mixing and matching is the fun part! Peel the paper off the crayons.

STEP 2: Fill the pot with about an inch layer of water. Place the glass jar/bowl inside of pot and turn stove onto low-heat setting.

STEP 3: Take about one table spoon of your moisturizer and let it melt in the glass container. I found that
1 tablespoon oil for every 1/2 crayon makes for the best consistency. You can play around with this proportion and see what works best for you.

STEP 5: This is the fun part! Break up your crayons and let them melt in the glass jar. It will melt pretty quickly so start with small pieces and mix in the colors gradually to your liking.

STEP 6: Pour melted mixture into empty makeup cases. Let dry completely. Between each color it's important to clean your glass jar.

Here's a few of my favorite colors!

PROS:
     -long lasting
     -Customizable
     -Low budget
CONS:
-Hard to remove (off of everything! including teeth! which makes clean-up rather difficult)
-Since it's not in a tube the application process is tedious
